Akiva’s hand-churned ghee is a labour of love. Instead of the buffalo milk or malai used by other brands, we make our ghee from A2 cow milk of grass-fed Sahiwal cows at partner dairy firms. The premium A2 milk from the Sahiwal cows is first turned into curd. Once the curd is hand-churned in the bilona, our artisans slowly heat the curd to evaporate the remaining water and keep the fat. The fat undergoes another round of straining to ensure all milk solids are removed and only ghee (clarified butter) remains. This ensures that our ghee is all-natural and nutritious.
500ml of our ghee comes from 16 litres of milk.
Ingredients: 100% Pure Clarified Butter
No Impurities: Akiva’s ghee contains no additives, no preservatives and no added colours. Just wholesome goodness.
For Everyone: Our ghee can be used by everyone, including those on keto and paleo diets. Its full-bodied aroma and flavour will complement all kinds of food and taste buds.
Nutrition Powerhouse: Since we follow the Bilona Padati process and source our milk ethically, our ghee does not contain any harmful cholesterol. Instead, it is packed with potent nutrients like Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, fat-soluble vitamins A, E, and K2.
Akiva’s Ghee has an impressive nutrient profile making it a superior substitute for cooking oils and butter. Since it has no water content, our ghee can be kept outside the refrigerator and will still remain fresh for long.
Vitamin A: Ghee is an excellent source of Vitamin A. One serving (2 tbsp) of ghee gives you 15% of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin A.
Consuming a healthy serving of ghee would promote good vision, supple skin and bone health. It also relieves inflammation by fighting the free radicals in your body.
Vitamin E: Fat-soluble Vitamin E is also present in abundance in ghee. Just one serving (2 tbsp) of ghee is enough to satisfy 3% of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin E.
The Vitamin E in ghee helps in balancing cholesterol levels by fighting free radical damage and lowering cholesterol oxidation. The antioxidant properties of Vitamin E also help fight the signs of aging and improve skin elasticity.
Vitamin K2: Vitamin K2 is an important component of the Vitamin K group of compounds. Most foods that contain Vitamin K have more Vitamin K1 than Vitamin K2. Ghee from grass-fed ghee, like ours, is a great source of K2, which is also better absorbed by the body than K1.
Ghee is known to improve heart health. This is because the Vitamin K in ghee prevents calcium deposits from forming in the arteries and causing artery blockages and plaque deposits.
Omega Fatty Acids: Pure ghee is known to have the ideal ratio of Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids. Having a balance between these fatty acids is essential to the proper functioning of the body - too much of one fatty acid can lead to a number of symptoms.
These essential fatty acids are responsible for improving cardiovascular health and overall immunity, regulating mood, and decreasing the risk of diabetes.
Given the molecular nature of these fats, they are processed by the liver as sources of energy rather than passed on to the skin’s adipose tissue for weight gain. This makes ghee an ideal source of energy for both athletes and those trying to lose weight in a healthy manner.
