Working as a freelancer in today’s world, there’s no real schedule I follow. Content’s becoming paramount in every industry, with phones always off the hook and emails pouring in at random hours. Sleepless hours are the norm and have become my expected outcomes, and one that I’ve accepted. I’ll be honest, there are days when I do get 8-10 hours of sleep but on the other days, I have nothing to keep me in check. 

I end up missing out on the important things in life - a solid breakfast, a delicious lunch by the balcony, overlooking the plot next to our building and hot evening snacks in the cafeteria (is that a thing?). But you know what I miss out the most on?

Playing football.

Back when I was in school, I’d play three hours back to back and still make it home for dinner. 

It’s just that there are times I think back on those days and reminisce on how a proper daily routine actually helped me do the things I like. But it’s the sacrifice I need to make to enjoy more freedom as a content specialist - quiet spaces and loads of naps. 

So when I can’t enjoy a stable schedule, required nutrients or a proper workout, how do I keep myself sane and healthy in this over-competitive world?

AKIVA.  Or as I like to call it, my most coveted option of nutrients in a bottle. 

Shots I take everyday 

Yeah, AKIVA has these colourful, super stylish bottles and to be honest, I’ve also grown to enjoy the taste. If you’d told me that one day I’d be drinking activated charcoal shots to cleanse my gut, I’d have laughed in your face. But look at me now! Swigging a drink called “Detox with the Dark” and actually feeling the full gut-cleansing effects of it. 

I honestly don’t get the time to load myself with nutrients with a slow-cooked dal and fluffy rice that does wonders for my body. I tend to get my projects in the afternoon and I work through the night. That means I’m constantly missing out on meals on these heavy days. AKIVA’s shots are a gentle shot-sized reminder that good things do come in small sizes and I’ve really enjoyed taking a quick gulp in between tasks.

Every process, taken care of 

I take care of all of my internal processes with these shots. By that I mean, I have specific shots at certain times of the day; starting with Green Tea-Apple Cider Vinegar shots in the morning for my weight management. This is followed by Lemon Honey Cinnamon shots in the afternoon to keep my appetite in check, after lunch. Then, I have a 7 o’clock sundowner in the form of Aloe Vera skin health shots and complete the set with the Charcoal Aloe Vera shots at night. 

I’ve had these shots for a month now (bought 90 shots, I go hard!) and religiously had them at the right time, every day. I’ve felt much lighter when I’ve woken up, seen a big improvement in the quality of my skin (I hardly see the sun indoors), and have a much better quality of sleep. 

Hopefully, I do end up getting my schedule right, but with shots these good, I think I’m alright. 

I am very aware that nothing is a good alternative for the nutrients that come through a well-balanced meal but if a little supplement that acts as a kicker for my overall health is doing the trick for me, I’m not gonna stand on the side and watch it ride past me.
